Beginner Boat Courses
These courses are espeacially designed for first time waterskiers or wakeboarders to experience the thrill of the water. Open to all ages from 5 years to 90.
Here at Liquid Leisure we offer individual lessons or beginner courses to get you started, each can be purchased as a gift voucher. All our beginner lessons come with all equipment and include instruction!
Individual Boat lesson
Individual boat lessons (12 minute session) are £30 each, however we do recommend our beginner courses which are 2 or 3 lessons to be taken on the same day.

Once you have changed into your wetsuit, we start you on land, teaching the fundamentals of safety, body position and technique. Once the instructor and student are confident in understanding the basics on land, we move on to the water.
For boat we use a static training bar positioned on the side of the boat to offer stability for the first time skier, which allows the instructor to watch the student closely and give continuous instruction. Once the instructor is confident that the student has mastered the skiing/riding position, the next stage is use the technique on the long line behind the boat. After your first lesson we give you a break, where you can relax in our sauna, hot tub, or in our club house. You then have your second lesson about an hour later once your arms have recovered! The beginner experience will last about 2 hours. Please make sure you get here in plenty of time so we can get you signed in and changed into your wetsuit.
Beginner Cable
We offer a 1 hour beginners session on our beginner cable for just £30! This comes with all equipment included and tuition. After some on land tuition, we will start you off on a kneeboard to understand the pull of the cable, and then get you up on a wakeboard or skis! You will get 1 hour on the water and we keep our group sizes small so you can get the most from our instructors!
Once you have mastered the beginner cable, the next time we can progress you onto the full size cable. On our main cable we will also start you off on a kneeboard to navigate your way around the corners, before trying out your new skills on the wakeboard or skis.

Boat Driver courses
The ICC is a certification for you to drive boats inland as well as coastal waterways in Europe.
The SBDA is a certificate of competence by the British Waters Ski Federation and recognised as the standard of boat driving skills at clubs throughout the UK and approved by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) who are responsible to the Department of the Environment, Transport and Regions. It is not a professional qualification but proof of your boat handling experience and skills.
Requirements for taking the SBDA test
- you must be a valid member of the British Water Ski (you can join through us)
- you must be over the age of 16 at the time of taking the test
- you must have a reasonable level of boat driving
- you must have read and be familiar with the content of our SBDA manual

The manual contains all the information required for the written test and includes a comprehensive full colour guide to flags and other signage. It is available as a free download on the British Water Ski website. |

The SBDA is valid indefinately as long as you are a BWS member.
The ICC is valid for 5 years when it can be renewed without a further test.
If you feel you have not got the appropriate boat driving experience we have 2 day beginner courses which will cover additional boat handling or towing tuition and include both SBDA & ICC test papers.
